Crab Tree Farm (Lake Bluff, IL), is an incredibly special place. As the home of the collector, philanthropist and businessman, John H. Bryan, Jr. (1936 - 2018), Crab Tree Farm was the setting for Mr. Bryan’s life-long love affair with art and history. This talk celebrates one particularly remarkable aspect of Mr. Bryan’s collecting practice: his passion for dated objects for the period of 1500-1800. Although many of these objects are modest everyday items, like all aspects of life at Crab Tree Farm, every one of these objects was carefully chosen. Each has their own story to tell.
