In 2027 the Antiquarian Society will celebrate its 150th Anniversary, a remarkable and historic milestone for our beloved organization.  Exciting plans are underway to mark the occasion, including celebratory events, a commemorative hardcover book, and a special Anniversary acquisition for each of the Applied Arts of Europe and Arts of the Americas departments. 

The first of these proposed acquisitions is a magnificent rococo five-light silvered bronze chandelier.  Described by Ellenor Alcorn as “an extraordinary work of art and an unsurpassed expression of the rococo style,” it is currently on loan to the Art Institute and installed in the new Eloise W. Martin Galleries to great effect.  

The Antiquarians plan to commit $1.2 million to the purchase of the chandelier, funded by a combination of gifts to the Anniversary campaign and proceeds from our investments. 

The campaign is off  to a very strong start and has already raised over $300,000.  We hope you will be part of  this effort by making a special gift to help fund this acquisition and to honor our history and the generosity of those who came before us.
